Roll With the Changes

Twenty years ago, Recreation Management magazine was launched by Publisher Chris Belbin—"a new magazine for a new millennium," with a goal of helping you stay on top of the trends, technologies and products that help you hone your competitive edge and meet the demands and expectations of the people who visit your facilities.

A lot changes in two decades. In the industry at large, we've seen the ongoing evolution of the ways people play and gather, compete and engage in wellness. We've seen the rise and expansion of market segments like outdoor fitness and splash play while others have simply adapted to the ever-changing understanding of how best to bring recreation, aquatics, fitness, sports and more to a public that thirsts for connection and well-being.

Things have changed internally as well, with staff changes, and, most recently, the retirement of Art Director Dale Dodson, which brings a new face to our team. Marina Rus has taken over at the design desk, and is helping us celebrate our 20-year milestone with a brand-new look and feel. We hope you find it as engaging and informative as ever.

Of course, the more things change, the more they stay the same. One thing that hasn't changed is our over-arching goal: We still aim to educate and inform. We still want to bring you the most up-to-date information, innovations and ideas to help you manage your recreation, sports and fitness facilities, allowing you to invite an ever-expanding community to engage with the programs, places and people that only you can connect them with.

We're all on a mission together, here. It's edifying to look back and see how much has changed for the better. And it's exciting to look forward with hope and expectation to even better things for the future.

Cheers!
