Water Odyssey - Fun Ways to Spray and Play!

Problem Solver - August 2016

Renew Your Sprayground

Spraygrounds continue to be tremendously popular in communities across the United States, but now that they've been around a while, some owners are finding they'd like to renew their splash play to generate excitement and attract new users. The good news is that there are simple ways to refresh your sprayground without starting from scratch.

Q: We have an existing sprayground that's been in place a while. How can we refurbish this existing space to make it like new again?

A: You don't have to start from scratch. It's simple to replace your existing spray features with a brand-new experience without removing your existing pad and piping. Talk to your manufacturer about new features you can add in place of your existing features. The manufacturer should be able to give advice on cutting off the existing features, installing a retrofit seal kit inside the pipe and then placing a new feature on top. You'll be able to get a brand-new experience without breaking the bank.

Q: What are some newer spray elements we should consider to rejuvenate our sprayground experience?

A: Manufacturers are always coming up with new splash play elements that will be a great fit for your space.

Consider the fun interplay of light, water and color. Stainless steel spray features are available that combine texture, light, color and water effects to create a brand-new experience and delight the senses.

Themed elements are another possibility that allows you to build a fun, interactive, creative experience for visitors at your park. You can find all sorts of fun sprays with a range of themes to suit your needs, from nature-themed spray elements like critters and flowers or ocean themes with sea creatures and more.

Interactive features will give kids a chance to get into the action, activating splash features or spraying one another in a fun water battle. Some elements can even add sound to create a multisensory experience. Activators and controllers can also be added to create play sequences that keep kids moving and having fun.
