GROUNDS & FIELD MAINTENANCE

Comfortable Cutting

In order to provide increased operator comfort, extended service intervals and simplified service access, Exmark Manufacturing has incorporated a number of upgrades and refinements to its 2004 Lazer Z line of mid-mount zero-turn mowers. Primary controls have been repositioned to the top of the right-hand fuel tank, placing them within inches of where the operator's hand rests. Larger fuel tanks create a more streamlined shape and include a molded-in cup holder. New drive levers provide additional operator legroom and feature a two-position height adjustment. In addition, a new integrated fuel gauge takes the guesswork out of determining remaining fuel supply.

All-Wheel, Four-Wheel

Bobcat Company's new Toolcat 5600 utility work machine is equipped with a 44-horsepower Kubota diesel engine and combines all-wheel steering and four-wheel drive in one machine. This combination allows it to go through tough ground conditions, including mud and snow, while remaining agile enough to work in sensitive working areas such as turf and grass. The 5600 has a steering wheel, drive and brake pedals, and a joystick for loader functions. Up front, the loader offers excellent lift capacity, while a hydraulic system provides 17 GPM and 3000 psi of auxiliary hydraulic flow to run attachments.

Hard Worker

The newly redesigned Toro® Workman® Heavy Duty now offers greater comfort and more features that help operators endure the hardest tasks. Redesigns include more legroom and adjustable seats for more space and comfort. The fully hydraulic steering system makes the Workman® easier to turn, and a higher dashboard allows easier access to controls and gauges. The parking brake lever has been repositioned, and the dump lever is more conveniently located. Also included are a removable cup/radio holder, a larger and deeper glove box, and a built-in electrical outlet that can be used for cell phones.

Slide-in Sweeper

Schwarze Industries' new AA-Tach high dumping slide-in sweeper is easy to use and cost-effective. Offloading via hydraulics at a dumping height of 60 inches, it can deposit directly into dumpsters with the push of a button. This increases productivity and allows contents to be offloaded into individual customer dumpsters if desired. The sweeper runs on a 22.5-horsepower V-twin Robin Subaru auxiliary engine, and, for longevity, the interior of the 2-yard collection hopper is made of rustproof, impact- and abrasion-resistant polyethylene and coated with epoxy. Schwarze's AA-Tach line can be mounted onto or removed from most commercially available 3/4-ton pickup trucks.

Power of Three

Progressive Turf Equipment produces pull-behind rotary finishing mowers for parks and recreation markets where wide area mowing is a concern. Most popular is the TD series of Tri-Deck mowers, used on playing fields and other areas where a high-quality after-cut appearance is mandatory. The easy-to-operate TD series provides a 12- or 15.5-foot-wide cut depending on the model. They require from 25 to 40 PTO horsepower and single spool hydraulics to operate and can mow up to 11 acres per hour.
