Respondents to the Industry Report Survey from health, fitness and sports clubs were most likely to report that they had plans to maintain their current staffing levels in 2018.

Some 68.2 percent said they would be keeping staff at the current level. Almost three in 10 (28.8 percent) said they would be adding employees in this time frame, and 3 percent had plans to reduce staff.

In 2018, health club respondents said they employed an average of 78.5 workers. This includes 22.6 full-time employees, 46.6 part-time employees, 19.2 seasonal employees, 6.1 volunteers and 2.7 "other" workers.
