INDUSTRY STATS

VGB Act Compliance

VGB Act Compliance

When the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act was first passed in 2007, the Industry Report had yet to include a section focused specifically on aquatics. That section was introduced in 2008. In 2009, we asked aquatic respondents whether their facilities were in compliance with the Act. The question was removed from the survey after 2011, but it is interesting to see how quickly pools came into compliance between 2009 and 2011.

In 2009, more than half (51.2 percent) said they were in compliance, while 20.9 percent were not, and 27.9 percent were unsure of their status.

In just two years' time, compliance increased to 79.1 percent, with just 0.8 percent of respondents indicating their aquatic facilities were not in compliance with the requirements of the Act.
