INDUSTRY STATS

Environment & Conservation Issues & Programs, 2014 to 2018

Environment & Conservation Issues & Programs, 2014 to 2018

Over the past five years, the percentage of respondents who feel that environmental and conservation issues are a top concern has mostly hovered around 14 to 15 percent, with a slight dip in 2018. In 2014, 15.1 percent of all respondents said this was a top concern for their facility, and in 2018, 12.5 percent called it a top concern.

In that same time span, respondents from park facilities were generally more likely to call environmental and conservation a top concern. In 2014, 21.1 percent of these respondents said one of their top concerns was environmental and conservation issues. By 2018, however, that percentage had fallen to 13.3 percent.

Among those with plans to add programs at their facilities, around one-fifth of all respondents, and between one-quarter and one-third of parks respondents said they would be adding environmental education programs from 2014 to 2018. Again, higher numbers of parks respondents reported that they had such plans. In the most recent survey year, 2018, 20.7 percent of all respondents with plans to add programs, and 29.5 percent of parks respondents with plans to add programs said they would be adding environmental education.
