Fund Established to Assist Aspiring Women Coaches

A fund has been created that will help support the development, education and training of aspiring women football coaches and scouts who are pursuing careers in collegiate or professional football in the United States. The Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) together with Atlanta Falcons Assistant General Manager Scott Pioli recently announced the establishment of the Scott Pioli & Family Fund for Women Football Coaches and Scouts.

Coaching Certification

Coaching Certification

Among the respondents to the State of the Industry Report who said that they require some sort of certification for at least some of their employees, nearly a quarter (24.7 percent) require a coaching certification.

Coaching certifications are most commonly required by respondents from schools and school districts, where 69 percent of those who require any certification require coaching certification. They were followed by respondents from community recreation centers (28.1 percent), and Ys (21.1 percent).

Fewer respondents from other facility types require coaching certification of their staff members. It is least common among respondents from camps (14.3 percent) and health clubs (14.3 percent).
