INDUSTRY STATS

MAHC Awareness

MAHC Awareness

When we asked respondents to our annual Aquatics Industry Trends survey if they were familiar with the CDC's Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC), more than half (57.6%) said they were familiar with the code. Some 20.9% said they were very familiar with the MAHC, and 36.7% were somewhat familiar with it. Another 42.4% said they were unfamiliar with the MAHC.

Looking further, 8.6% of respondents said they had either participated in the Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC). According to the CDC, the next meeting of CMAHC members will take place in October 2020. At this meeting, members can take part in the process of updating the MAHC and have their input heard by the CDC as it revises and releases the next edition of the code.

While the code is not mandatory, many jurisdictions have adopted either all of the code or some portions of it. According to the Aquatics Industry Trends survey, 21% of respondents said the MAHC has been either fully or partially adopted in their area.
