Welcome to our Eighth Annual Innovative Architecture & Design Awards. In these pages, we take a look inside—and outside—some of the most impressive new and renovated recreation, sports and fitness facilities from across the continent.
Every year we aim to recognize outstanding facility design, and once again this year's contestants raised the bar another notch for future facilities. Our winners this year set an example for others to follow, and provide innovative and creative solutions to design problems.
All of the entries were carefully considered and ranked by our panel of judges, whose goal was to judge each facility on its own merit, and submit their scores, along with their thoughts on what made their top choices so outstanding.
While it's always a difficult task to narrow the list down to the top facilities, we have selected eight winners, as well as one facility deserving of our Editor's Choice award.
Here on these pages, you'll find photos and descriptions of these standout facilities, as well as highlighted facilities that didn't quite make the cut.
All of these recreation, sports and fitness facilities make for entertaining and informative reading, and we hope you'll take away some creative ideas to use at your own facility.
And if you're building new or renovating, we invite you to submit your facility for consideration next year, when we'll once again consider the latest innovations in design.
