Congress Nears Full, Permanent Funding of LWCF

The U.S. Congress is close to enacting a historic measure that will dramatically expand access to parks and public lands. The U.S. Senate has voted in an overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion to move forward with the Great American Outdoors Act, which will ensure that $900 million in offshore oil and gas fees are invested in local parks and open space, by fully funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). The measure will now go to the House of Representatives, which also is poised to enact this legislation. The White House has already signaled its support.

Industry Report: Number Who Feel Conservation a Top Challenge Holds Steady

Industry Report: Number Who Feel Conservation a Top Challenge Holds Steady

The percentage of respondents to the Industry Report Survey who say they think conservation and environmental issues are among their top concerns outside of budgets and economic issues has held fairly steady over the past five years.

In 2020, 13.5% of respondents said that they think environmental and conservation issues are a top concern for the industry. This is up slightly from 2019, when 11.3% said they thought this was a top concern.

The highest percentage of respondents reported environmental and conservation issues as a top concern in 2017, when 15.4% named this as a top area of worry for their facilities.
