NGWSD Celebrates Girls & Women in Sports

Feb. 3, 2021 was the 35th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), a day of observance recognizing the importance of equal opportunities in sport for girls and women. In honor of the day, the Women's Sports Foundation hosted virtual events to engage girls across the country, as well as legislators on Capitol Hill. This annual day of celebration and advocacy aims to inspire girls and women to play and be active, to help realize their limitless potential. Now more than ever, with the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, social justice movement and political tumult, staying mentally and physically healthy and resilient is vital.

General Fitness a Top Concern for One-Fifth of Industry Report Respondents

General Fitness a Top Concern for One-Fifth of Industry Report Respondents

The number of respondents to Recreation Management's Industry Report survey who feel that general fitness and wellness is a top industry concern grew slightly from 2019 to 2020. In 2019, 20.7% of all respondents said general fitness and wellness is a top concern, compared with 21.7% in 2020.

At the same time, the percentage of respondents who feel that youth fitness and wellness is a top concern grew from 15.2% in 2019 to 15.9% in 2020.

And, the number of respondents who said that fitness and wellness for older adults is a top concern fell slightly, from 15.6% in 2019 to 15% in 2020.
