Leading Aquatic Organizations Champion Water Safety

A coalition of water safety partners, including the American Red Cross, the National Recreation and Park Association, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance and the World Waterpark Association, along with dozens of other water safety groups, are working together to promote the month of May as National Water Safety Month. National Water Safety Month engages the public to raise awareness about water safety and highlights the importance of public education regarding safer practices for kids and adults when they're in and around water.

Industry Report: Water Safety Programs Among Most Common Offerings

Industry Report: Water Safety Programs Among Most Common Offerings

Water safety programs are among the most prevalent offerings at aquatic facilities covered by Recreation Management's Industry Report in 2021. Some 57.4% of all respondents with aquatic facilities said they currently provide water safety programs at their facilities. These programs were by far the most common among respondents from Ys. Some 86.7% of Y respondents with aquatics said they currently provide water safety programs. They were followed by recreation centers (67.4%) and schools (64.3%). More than half of parks (59%) and colleges (54.1%) also said they provide water safety programs. Camps and health clubs were least likely to do so, though 33.3% and 45.5%, respectively, said they currently provide such programming at their facilities.
