PHTA Funds Swim Lessons for Nearly 6,300 Children in 2021

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) and its foundation are celebrating the donors who made 2021 a record-setting year for the alliance's Step Into Swim initiative, which is committed to safe swim education. The program raised more than $1 million and provided swim lessons to 6,297 children, with support from major founding partner Every Child A Swimmer and other industry leaders.

Nearly 8 in 10 Aquatics Professionals Offer Learn-to-Swim Programs

According to Recreation Management's Aquatic Trends Report, nearly eight out of 10 (77.7%) aquatic respondents said they currently provide learn-to-swim programs at their aquatic facilities.

Of those who currently provide learn-to-swim programs, almost all (94.8%) provide such programming for children ages 17 and younger. Another 71.9% provide learn-to-swim programs for parents and babies or toddlers, such as mommy—or daddy—and me classes. Almost two-thirds (65.2%) said they provide learn-to-swim programs for adults ages 18 and up, and 36.1% provide learn-to-swim programs for seniors. (See Figure 21.)
