Concern About Youth Fitness Rose Amid Pandemic Shutdowns, Especially at School

Respondents to the Industry Report survey reported increasing concern about youth fitness as the coronavirus pandemic brought school shutdowns and facility closures, with more naming it as a top industry concern in 2021 than in 2019. This is particularly true for respondents from schools and school districts. In 2019, some 24.2% of school respondents named youth fitness as one of their top industry concerns, compared with 14.3% of non-school respondents. For schools, that number jumped to 28.7% in 2021, while non-school respondents also saw an increase, with 17.1% naming youth fitness a top industry concern in 2021.
