Thanks to innovations in technology, your next trip to the ballpark popcorn stand can be even more convenient. Aramark Sports + Entertainment and the Philadelphia Phillies are bringing a popular game day snack into the hands of more fans with the help of self-serve popcorn vending machines from Gold Medal Products Co.
As of July 22, 2022, Citizens Bank Park will be the first sports venue in the world with the cashless ReadyServe® One popcorn machines. Unique and state-of-the-art, these self-serve popcorn machines allow customers to swipe a credit card for payment then push a button to dispense fresh popcorn. There is no scooping, labor is limited, and fans will be able to return to their seats quicker than traditional concession stand models.
The popcorn served in the machines at Citizens Bank Park will be called Philly Pop. It features a seasoned popcorn inspired by Chickie’s and Pete’s world-famous crab fries, using their signature seasoning paired with a tangy white cheddar flavor. The machines are wrapped in custom-made designs with signage to reflect the Chickie’s and Pete’s brand.
Gold Medal vice president of branch sales and operations, Pete Bakala headed the effort with Aramark Sports + Entertainment. Gold Medal offers multiple variations of self-serve popcorn machines, including two popper and warmer units, the small 8-oz ReadyPop® Jr. and the mid-sized 16-oz ReadyPop®. Also available is the large 48- inch warmer, the ReadyServe®. The cashless ReadyServe One is the newest model in development and is currently being field tested.
