FINA and Counsilman-Hunsaker Announce Partnership
Industry-leading aquatic facility design and operations company, Counsilman-Hunsaker, and FINA are proud to announce a new consultancy partnership that will support facility design for World Championships and other major events.
Founded in 1970 by swimming pioneers James “Doc” Counsilman and Joe Hunsaker, Counsilman-Hunsaker will provide FINA and its Member Federations with innovative design and management solutions to develop state-of-the-art, sustainable aquatic facilities alongside review and counsel of facility and space plans for their events.
The partnership, which runs through 2025, will see Counsilman-Hunsaker assist FINA in their role of supporting the development of world championship and Olympic venues as well as providing on-site support and facility evaluations for these events. In addition, CounsilmanHunsaker will support FINA technical committees in the development and ongoing review of aquatic sport requirements.

This new partnership with FINA propels Counsilman-Hunsaker to the world aquatic sport stage. Said Hester, “We feel this role in supporting FINA was a natural fit for Counsilman Hunsaker that works in tandem with our partnership as the ‘Official Supplier of Aquatic Facility Consulting’ for USA Swimming since 2014.”
