Fewer Offer Youth Sports Opportunities in 2022

From 2018 to 2022, the number of respondents to the Industry Report survey who reported that their programming lineup graph showing youth sports opportunitiescurrently includes youth sports opportunities fell from 58.1% to 50.3%. The only respondents who were more likely to offer youth sports programs in 2022 than in 2018 were those from schools and school districts. Some 81.6% of school respondents in 2018 provided youth sports, compared with 82.5% in 2022.

Among parks, the percentage fell from 75.6% in 2018 to 70.2% in 2020 and 70.1% in 2022. Respondents from Ys saw very little change over the four years covered, with 87.7% offering youth sports in 2018, 88.4% in 2020 and 87.2% in 2022. Rec center respondents saw a fairly sharp decline, with 71% offering youth sports opportunities in 2018, falling to 63.5% in 2020 and 50% in 2022.
