USA Swimming Expands Community Impact Grant Program

With 21 clubs across the U.S. already receiving support, USA Swimming announced that additional programs are now eligible to receive $5,000 grants through the Community Impact Grant program.

USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation introduced the Community Impact Grants to increase competitive opportunities within USA Swimming clubs. The inaugural class of 12 clubs was joined by an additional nine clubs last year. Community Impact Grant recipients receive $5,000 annually and are renewable for up to three years.

Supported by the USA Swimming Foundation, these grants are provided to clubs across the country to increase programming to underserved communities, support diverse coaches and create additional competitive opportunities in the U.S.

“Our commitment to expanding opportunities and improve access to the sport continues to grow each year with the Community Impact Grants,” USA Swimming Managing Director of Sport Development Joel Shinofield said. “The support of the USA Swimming Foundation enables us to better partner with clubs to get more kids in the water in communities across the country.”

The Community Impact Grants focus on three areas of support:

  • Creating partnerships between a USA Swimming team and a facility or recreational organization that doesn’t currently have a team.
  • Supporting programs led by women and/or diverse individuals.
  • Partnering USA Swimming clubs with Historically Black Colleges and Universities to create competitive programs for youth in campus pools.
