Post-Pandemic, Facilities See Big Jump in Need for Staff

According to the 2022 State of the Industry Report, 37.1% of all respondents had plans to add more staff at their facilities—up from 23.2% in the 2019graph report, before the pandemic.

The biggest jump was seen by respondents at Ys, where well over half (57.4%) of respondents in 2022 said they would be adding staff, an increase of more than 30 percentage points from 2019, when 26% planned to add staff. They were followed by parks (43.8% in 2022, up 17.1 points from 26.7% in 2019), and camps (41.3% in 2022, up 15.3 points from 26% in 2019).

Only rec center respondents were less likely to be planning to add staff in 2022 than in 2019. Some 26.8% of rec center respondents in 2022 said they planned to add staff, down just slightly from 27.3% in 2019.
