According to the 2022 State of the Industry Report, 38.1% of all respondents named any kind of fitness or wellness as a top concern. This includes general fitness and wellness (24.5% named it a top concern); youth fitness and wellness (16.1%) and older adult fitness and wellness (12.7%).
Respondents from Ys were the most likely to indicate that fitness and wellness are a top industry concern. Some 63.6% of Y respondents said this was a top concern for them, with 36.4% naming general fitness and wellness a top concern, 40.9% calling youth fitness and wellness a top concern, and 20.5% saying older adult fitness and wellness were a top concern. They were followed by health clubs, where 58.1% of respondents feel that fitness and wellness are a top concern.
Health club respondents were the most likely to name general fitness and wellness a top concern, with 41.9% naming this their top issue. They were followed by Ys (36.4%). Ys, on the other hand, were the most likely to name youth fitness and wellness a top concern (40.9%). They were followed by schools (26.7%). Finally, health clubs were most likely to name older adult fitness and wellness a top concern (25.8%), followed by Ys (20.5%).
