Some 41.5% of respondents in 2023 said they had plans to add more programming options to their facilities’ lineup over the next three years. This is up substantially from 2022, when 35.7% had such plans.
The most commonly planned program addition was educational programs, though the percentage who had such plans fell, from 25.9% in 2022 to 24.8% in 2023.
Another 23.3% of 2023’s respondents said they were planning to add mind-body balance programs, such as yoga and tai chi. This is down from 29.9% in 2022.
Teen programming was also one of the top planned additions in 2023, with 23.3% of respondents indicating they would add it, up from 21.9% in 2022.
Other top planned program additions in 2023 include: environmental education (22.2%, up from 20.9%); group exercise programs (22%, down from 27.9%); fitness programs (20.3%, down from 27.9%); arts and crafts (19.2%, down from 21.9%); programs for active older adults (19%, down from 19.4%); special needs programs (18.8%, up from 17.4%); and adult sports teams (18.3%, down from 19.9%)
