In 2023, nearly eight out of 10 (78%) college and university respondents to the Industry Report survey said they planned
to maintain their existing staff levels. Another 22% said they were planning to increase staff, and no college and university respondents were planning to reduce staff in 2023.
Hiring plans among college and university respondents were down only slightly from 2022, when 26.3% had plans to add staff and 73.7% planned to maintain staff.
The year 2021 saw the greatest number of college and university respondents planning to reduce staff, though only 10.1% had such plans. This is likely due to fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. And still, in 2021, 19.7% of college and university respondents planned to increase their staff, while 70.2% planned no changes.
