SYNLawn, a leading global manufacturer and unrivaled innovator of sustainable artificial turf and synthetic surfacing products, is proud to announce two of its distributors were selected as winners of the 2023 Synthetic Turf Council (STC) Awards. The honorees were revealed during an awards ceremony at the STC’s annual conference and 20th anniversary celebration in New Orleans. The STC Awards is a program designed to recognize members who help to promote the association’s values and advance the synthetic turf industry. New England Turf Store/SYNLawn New England received the Commercial Landscape Project of the Year award and SYNLawn San Diego won the Recreational Landscape Project of the Year award.
“We’re extremely proud of our hardworking distributors and their teams for winning these prestigious awards from the STC,” said George Neagle, president of SYNLawn. “These notable achievements reflect both teams’ design and installation expertise, creativity, unmatched dedication to their clients and their stellar skills.”
The Commercial Landscape Project of the Year award recognized New England Turf Store/SYNLawn New England for a rooftop renovation project they worked on for the Kendall Center, a community hub located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The team worked closely with Boston Properties, the developer of Kendall Center, and BrightView Landscape to design and create the Urban Park Roof Garden. This rooftop oasis features a community garden, a pickleball court and artificial turf landscaping. The team installed 7,000 square feet of the following premium synthetic surfacing products to create the rooftop green space:
● SYNAugustine 347, the softest and most comfortable variety of faux grass that offers a natural look and a realistic feel.
● SYNPour™ Poured-in-Place (PIP) system, a soft and smooth surface that enhances safety and durability. It also allows for accessibility for individuals in wheelchairs and walkers. This product was also used to create turf mounds.
● Laykold® surfacing to create the custom pickleball court.
● Envirofill®, the latest in artificial grass infill technology and innovation.
The SYNLawn products used to build the Urban Park Roof Garden are the safest and most sustainable available on the market. SYNLawn’s exclusive plant-based EnviroLoc+™ backing system replaces a majority of the petroleum-based polyol with renewable soybeans. Learn more about the commercial project here.
The Recreational Landscape Project of the Year award honored SYNLawn San Diego for its collaboration with the City of Encinitas, California and RRM Design Group to develop Olympus Park, a 3.1-acre community recreational space featuring a wide range of amenities such as a botanical garden designed in collaboration with the San Diego Botanic Garden, walking trails, a zipline, an exercise pad that allows visitors to practice yoga and other fitness classes, a small dog park, a bike pump track, public art elements and a play area. The team designed and installed the custom play space using 2,000 square feet of SYNLawn’s Play Platinum. As part of the design, SYNLawn San Diego had to factor in the slopes and undulations of the installation, including the adventure hill, so they used a pour-in-place safety course that allowed them to glue the turf to the cushion course directly. The Play Platinum they installed is the safest artificial grass surface for kids and it’s made with Super Yarn™ technology that provides heat reflective, anti-static, Sanitized®, and non-abrasive grass blades. It also has a Class A fire rating to ensure the surfacing meets all standards for playground use. More information about the recreational project is available here.
