The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Pittsburgh inducted Frank Schiffman into the Renaissance Hall of Fame at the annual Renaissance Awards at the Fairmont Pittsburgh held on January 25.
The award honored Schiffman’s 46-year career in marketing and communications in the commodity chemicals and water treatment products industries, including his current role as the Business Manager/Director of Marketing for Westlake Water Solutions.
The Renaissance Hall of Fame Award salutes a senior public relations professional who has made significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of public relations in the Pittsburgh region. The award is chosen by members of PRSA Pittsburgh.
“It is an honor to be recognized among the company of the city’s best and brightest communications professionals,” said Schiffman. “The Renaissance Hall of Fame is a distinguished group, and I am proud to now be a part of it.”
For 28 years, Schiffman was employed by PPG Industries selling, developing and marketing water treatment chemicals. By the time Axiall Corporation acquired the Chemicals Group of PPG, Schiffman had helped to propel its Accu-Tab® brand of tablets and chlorinators—now under the umbrella of Westlake Water Solutions—to a leading brand in the commercial pool industry. He has also been responsible for a broad portfolio of chemical treatment brands serving diverse markets ranging from agriculture and drinking water to food processing and backyard swimming pools.
Pipitone, the long-time agency of Westlake, nominated Schiffman for the honor. “From chlorine labels to strategic integrated marketing of water solutions, Frank has been a loyal partner and dear friend for over 30 years -- our longest-standing client,” said Pipitone President and CEO Scott Pipitone. “It is so rewarding to see him recognized for his career achievements in moving Westlake Corporation’s water treatment business forward.”
