The American Red Cross is by far the most common provider of lifeguard training for respondents to the Aquatic Trends Report. Among the 93.7% of respondents who have a lifeguard on duty at their facilities, nearly three-quarters (72.9%) said they rely on American Red Cross training programs to certify their lifeguards.
The next most common training and certification provider is the American Safety & Health Institute, with 9.2% of respondents who have a lifeguard on duty indicating they rely on ASHI to certify their guards. Somewhat fewer respondents said they rely on YMCA training (7.5%), the StarGuard Elite program (5.5%), or Ellis & Associates (3.5%).
