Majority of Parks, Camps Have Trails

While just over half (52.2%) of all respondents to the 2024 Industry Report survey said they currently have walking and hiking trails, graph around three-quarters of park respondents (75.4%) and camp respondents (74%) said they currently have walking and hiking trails.

Similarly, while one-third (33.2%) of all respondents said they currently have bike trails, that number rises to more than half for park respondents (51.6%), and 42% of camp respondents said they currently have bike trails.

Fitness trails and outdoor fitness equipment were somewhat less common, with 27.2% of all respondents indicating they currently include them at their facilities. Parks were among the most likely to have fitness trails and outdoor fitness equipment, with 40.7% of park respondents indicating they currently include this amenity at their facilities. Camps, however, were much less likely to have outdoor fitness (just 12%).

Looking forward, an average of 17.2% of all respondents with plans to add features of any kind at their facilities said they were planning to add any of these kinds of trails. Some 19.8% of park respondents had such plans, and 14.4% of camp respondents were planning to add trails.
