Some 92.5% of health club respondents in 2024 said they provide programming of any kind at their facilities, down from 98.6% in 2023. Fitness programs (82.9%), group exercise (78.4%) and personal training (75.7%) were the top three types of fitness programming offered by health club respondents, followed by functional fitness (70.3%) and mind-body balance programs like yoga, Pilates and tai chi (54.1%).
Looking forward, one-quarter (25%) of health club respondents in 2024 said they had plans to add programs at their facilities over the next few years. This is down from 31.1% in 2023, but still higher than the 21.9% who had such plans in 2022.
The most commonly planned program additions for health clubs in 2024 include: mind-body balance programs, sport training such as tennis lessons or golf instruction, nutrition and diet counseling, and sports tournaments and races.
