Respondents to the Industry Report Survey in 2024 were less likely to name youth fitness and wellness as a top concern, compared
with respondents to the 2020 survey. (Note: The 2020 survey was taken in January and February 2020, prior to widespread COVID-related closures and interruptions.) More than one in 10 (10.9%) respondents to the survey in 2024 said they considered youth fitness a top industry concern, down from 15.4% in 2020.
Respondents from health clubs were the most likely to name youth fitness and wellness a top concern in 2024, with 18.8% of health club respondents indicating they considered it an issue. Health club respondents were the only cohort that was more likely to consider youth fitness and wellness a top concern in 2024 than in 2020, when 13.5% did so.
Respondents from Ys (16.7%) and rec centers (16%) were also more likely than others to name youth fitness and wellness as a top industry concern in 2024.
