The average facility of respondents to the 2024 Industry Report survey was 41 years old, with the oldest facilities found among 
respondents from Ys, at 54.1 years, and camps, at 51.4 years. The lowest average facility age was found among respondents from colleges (30.8 years) and rec centers (31.1 years).
At the same time, more than half of respondents (52.6%) said they consider equipment and facility maintenance to be top industry concerns, second only to staffing challenges. Respondents from colleges (57.4%) and camps (57.1%) were the most likely to consider maintenance a top challenge. Respondents from health clubs (43.8%) and rec centers (46.7%) were the least likely to name maintenance as a top industry challenge.
