U.S. Olympian Elizabeth Beisel Named Water Safety Spokesperson for the Association of Aquatic Professionals

The Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) is proud to announce U.S. Olympian and world champion swimmer Elizabeth Beisel as the organization’s new Water Safety Spokesperson. In this role, Beisel will help lead AOAP’s national efforts to promote water safety, drowning prevention, and inclusive access to aquatic education and experiences.

A three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic medalist, Beisel brings not only elite-level expertise in the water, but also a heartfelt commitment to making aquatic environments safer and more accessible for all. Since retiring from competitive swimming, she has become an influential advocate for water safety and ocean conservation, sharing her passion through speaking engagements, outreach programs, and media appearances.

"Growing up in Rhode Island near the ocean water safety has always been at the forefront of my community but not everyone grows up with that privilege which is why I'm so passionate about spreading education around water safety,” said Beisel. “I'm so excited to partner with AOAP to help amplify their crucial messaging around this initiative that I know will help save lives."

As Water Safety Spokesperson, Beisel will collaborate with AOAP to amplify critical drowning prevention messaging, participate in public service initiatives, and engage with aquatic professionals from across the country.

“Elizabeth’s credibility as an elite athlete is matched by her authenticity and passion for advocacy,” said Juliene Hefter, Executive Director and CEO of the Association of Aquatic Professionals. “We are thrilled to welcome her into the AOAP family and believe her voice will have a tremendous impact on how we reach new audiences with life-saving education.”

This partnership further solidifies AOAP’s commitment to addressing the drowning epidemic in the U.S. and reinforces the organization’s role as a leader in advancing water safety standards and programming.
