More than seven out of 10 Industry Report respondents—71.6%—in 2026 said that they have plans for construction over the next
few years. This represents no change from 2025, and is the fourth highest number of respondents planning construction in the 20 years of the report. Other high rates of construction plans were seen in 2007 (75.1%), 2008 (72.4%), and 2020 (72.9%).
Respondents to the 2026 survey from Ys were most likely to be planning construction. Some 81.2% of Y respondents said they were planning to renovate, make additions or build new over the next few years—a high for Y respondents. They were followed by parks (78.5%), camps (76.5%), rec centers (66.2%), colleges (61%), health clubs (60.5%), and schools (55.9%).
