The sun is setting earlier, the nights are getting cooler, and the tree frogs, locusts and cicadas are making a racket that sounds like the end of summer. And sure enough, last week, my senior and I celebrated their last first day of school.
For many of you, the start of the school year means the beginning of everything from youth sports programs and before and after school camps to college rec sports and more. For others, this is a time for winding things down—the swimming pool, summer festivals and so on. But for everyone, now is a good time to think about learning.
There’s nothing wrong with taking advantage of our long habit of associating learning with the school year’s start. Take this moment to think about how you might add to your knowledge base in the coming few months, whether that’s by attending the various conferences and trade shows coming up this season (including NRPA, the World Waterpark Show, Athletic Business, American Society of Landscape Architects, World Aquatic Health Conference and more), by reading articles related to what you do, or simply by listening to the ideas and opinions of your peers and co-workers.
You can find plenty of learning in these pages, on diverse topics like inclusion, shade, water and air quality, pickleball and other trending recreational sports and more. You can also join us at our upcoming webinar (find out more below!) or visit our website and view any of our past webinars in full.
Whatever you choose, it’s never too late to grow your knowledge further, and have fun doing it!
Happy School Year!
