“Every child deserves a chance to play baseball.”

So says the Miracle League, which has a mission to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to play Miracle League Baseball, regardless of their abilities, as well as promoting support and sponsorship of Miracle Leagues, and promoting the construction of facilities that meet the needs of players and families.

It all began in 1998 in Conyers, Ga., when the Rockdale Youth Baseball Association invited kids with unique abilities to play ball. Today, the organization continues to offer opportunities for children with mental or physical disabilities to play baseball, designing and constructing custom ballfields with rubberized turf that prevents injuries, wheelchair-accessible dugouts, and a flat surface that eliminates barriers to children using mobility devices, as well as kids with visual disabilities.

There are currently more than 350 Miracle League Organizations across the country, including Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico. Today, the Miracle League serves more than 450,000 children and adults with disabilities.

The organization hosts an All-Star game, with the next taking place Oct. 16 to 18, 2026 in Frisco, Texas.

The organization continues to work to expand access to sport. If you don’t already have a Miracle League in your community, you can work with the organization to get one started. There are currently 270 cities that are members of the Miracle League Association.
