A relative newcomer to the scene of organizations that serve youth sports as well as veterans, Protect The Game was founded in 2019.

Protect The Game (PTG) is a nonprofit organization with a dual mission: supporting U.S. military veterans and enhancing youth sports in America. It does this by providing opportunities for veterans to receive training and employment in youth sports, simultaneously growing the ranks of qualified sports officials across the country.

Through its efforts, PTG has certified more than 200 veterans and their family members so far.

The organization offers numerous training opportunities for veterans and their families. Upcoming opportunities include training for youth football officials in Albuquerque, N.M., and baseball umpire training in Roswell, Ga.

On its website, Protect The Game states its values, laudable goals for anyone involved in youth sports:

  • We fight for the rules and fairness in the game.
  • We are a family.
  • We love the game.
  • We treat each other with kindness.
  • We treat each other with respect.
  • We are authentic.
  • We forgive.
  • We protect the players.
  • We manage the game.
  • We are humble.
  • We are grateful.
  • We are NOT bigger than the game.
  • We are approachable.
