Easy Does It

Highly Quotable

“All things will be produced in superior quantity and quality, and with greater ease, when each man works at a single occupation, in accordance with his natural gifts, and at the right moment, without meddling with anything else.”     -  Plato

For as much as people laud multitasking and demand such a talent in the people they hire and work with, we’ve long known that it can’t be done. Not really. Even two-and-a-half millennia ago, Plato was espousing the importance of doing one thing at a time.

Even when we’re not necessarily expected to multitask, we often make that demand of ourselves. But in truth, we should be more focused on a single task at a time, not just because that improves our performance at that task (and the evidence shows that we don’t perform as well when we try to do more than one thing at a time), but also for our health. Brown University says that “In reality, our brains are not set up to multitask,” and adds that in fact, multitasking can damage our health.

But the fact is, most of us have a lot on our plates, and that’s why we need great partners and solutions that can make it easier to get things done. Here is a tool to help you do just that.

In our annual Problem Solver issue, we talk to manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers from across the industry about how they can help solve problems you face in your facility. Whether it’s big challenges like improving your bottom line, or smaller problems like how to keep debris from becoming a trip hazard on paths, this issue can provide you with plenty of ideas to help you get things done.

Just remember to take it easy, and get one thing done at a time.

Cheers!
